Windacre Vineyard is a single vineyard on the eastern edge of the Russian River Valley. It experiences cool morning fog giving way to hot days and dropping temperatures in the evening. Windacre is a great Merlot grape growing vineyard, very similar in temperature and soil types to the Pomerol region of France where the most famous Merlots are made.
Replanting this two-acre block of Merlot took place in 2005 using clones, 3 and 15.
This merlot has a beautiful purple garnet color. This wine smells like lighting a spiced berry and vanilla candle on a warm winter day. The fruit bounces across your tongue then makes way for dark dried cherries with notes of vanilla. This wine does not disappoint. It keeps surprising you right to the long lingering berry finish.
